If it has been a while since you danced up a storm, sang out loud, smiled your face off, or had a night out with your lover or your friends…the time has come!
Fresh from two months in the studio recording new tunes, and off the back of a break for ‘long service,’ Australia’s favourite suppliers of the finest non-stop festival vibes, The Cat Empire are hitting the road with a big bag of favourites and taking the opportunity to introduce some brand new future classics to their legion of ever-faithful Australian fans.
Kicking off in June at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, then touring nationally throughout September, the band hit some of their favourite Australian venues and will be taking The Empire Horns and star on the rise Odette out with them. Since the release of her debut single “Watch Me Read You”, and with nearly 4 million streams on Spotify, 400K views on YouTube and coming in at #56 on triple j’s famed Hottest 100 list in January – Odette is certainly one of the new global artists to watch in 2018.
The Cat Empire are one of Australia’s most celebrated musical outfits both at home and abroad, selling more tickets annually than any other Australian band. Testament to the quality of their musicianship, showmanship, unstoppable energy and generosity as performers, they have sold well over 2.5 million albums and are loved around the globe for their melody driven, mood lifting music.
Initially coming together as a six-piece of jazz musos straight out of school, the band then expanded horizons to include further explorations into the then unchartered hybrid of jazz, ska, funk, indie and rock, with a heavy Latin vibe thrown in for good measure. Their resulting debut album saw the band capture attention and airwaves globally. Now well over a decade and six studio albums since they first started, they prepare for the next exciting leg of this amazing musical ride.
The most positive foray into live music any child could hope for, many of these shows are all-ages, so bring your kids along!
